Calgary patients have long known about the superior treatment options provided by the professionals at NorthPointe Dental Clinic. But many of these patients know very little about the benefits of straightening crooked or misaligned teeth. Traditional braces can straighten teeth, but the benefits of the orthodontic treatment are often outweighed by the uncomfortable and inconvenient side effects of the metal parts and pieces. Read on to learn more about Invisalign treatment and how it could help you or your teen get the smile you have always dreamed of.

Step One

First, Dr. Rosenbaum will take x-rays, pictures, and careful measurements of your teeth. These will be used to create an impression that will then be used to create your customized treatment plan. This will also allow us to map out the projected movements of your teeth, and estimate the approximate length of your treatment. After, we will be able to show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of your treatment.

Step Two

Based on your individual treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners will then be created specifically for you. Your aligners will be made of a smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic that won’t irritate your cheeks and gums. Patients should wear these aligners throughout the day, and remove them only to eat, brush, or floss. When worn properly, your aligners will help your teeth gradually shift into a more attractive position.

Step Three

Approximately every two weeks, you will receive a new set of aligners, until your teeth have reached their desired place. To monitor patient progress, you will schedule checkups with Dr. Rosenbaum every six weeks. For best results, patients should wear aligners for no less than 20 to 22 hours each day.

Invisalign Work Step Three

Invisalign is a comfortable and convenient way to straighten your teeth. However, there are many additional benefits of Invisalign. Continue reading to discover all the fantastic reasons why you should try removable clear braces.

Increase Your Self-Confidence

A crooked and uneven smile usually causes self-esteem to plummet. Invisalign clear braces can help straighten your smile with comfort and discretion. And when your smile is improved, you can grin with confidence once again.

Get Better Overall Health

Recent dental studies have shown that patients with oral health problems have higher rates of depression, anxiety, gum disease, heart disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s, and other dangerous health problems. But when you choose to straighten your teeth, you can often eliminate or reduce your chances of dealing with these problems.

Eat The Foods You Love

Foods like whole apples, corn on the cob, and popcorn must be avoided with traditional braces. Alternatively, Invisalign offers smooth plastic aligners that can be removed for eating all of your favorite foods.

Stop Limiting Your Activities

Traditional metal braces mean that patients struggle with activities like sports or playing an instrument. However, Invisalign can reduce discomfort, enhance convenience, and easily be removed so you can do the things you love. You can even take your aligners out for pictures and special events.

Improve The Shape Of Your Face

Crooked or misaligned teeth can actually change the shape of your face. When you fix problems like overbites or crooked teeth, you can restore a more normal shape to the face and bring about a more attractive smile.

Improve Oral Health

Because the aligners can be removed for oral hygiene, Invisalign patients have much less trouble keeping their mouth and teeth clean than those patients who utilize traditional metal braces. This allows patients to reduce cavities, decrease tooth decay, eliminate gum problems, and stomp out bad breath.

Eliminate Jaw Pain

Crooked teeth can cause jaw pain, grinding, and uneven tooth wear in many patients. Invisalign can alleviate mouth pain and reduce the discomfort associated with traditional braces while helping patients obtain a straight and stunning smile.

Aid Digestion

When your teeth are crooked or misaligned, chewing food properly can be difficult. This can impact digestion. Straightening your teeth can improve your ability to chew properly and results in better digestion.

In the past, patients had limited choices for orthodontic treatment and “metal mouth” was a rite of passage that was necessary to get a great smile. Fortunately, patients today have Invisalign clear braces! This revolutionary treatment can straighten your teeth with comfort, convenience, and discretion. Your Invisalign treatment plan will consist of a series of clear plastic aligners that will be worn for approximately two weeks before you move to the next set. Because the aligners are created from 3-D images of your teeth, they can precisely, gently, and gradually move your teeth into the most attractive position. We can even show you the results you would achieve before you start your treatment so that you know what your smile will look like. Come enjoy the following Invisalign advantages!

Your Treatment Is Nearly Invisible

You are the only one that needs to know you’re wearing braces.

Shorter Treatment Times

When you take the metal brackets or wires out of the equation, patients spend less time in the dentist’s chair. New aligners are sent every other week with a trip to our office every 6 weeks or so. That can save you the hassle of running around town for orthodontic appointments

Your Aligners Are Removable

Unlike traditional braces, you can take your aligners off to eat, drink, brush your teeth, or floss. You can also take them out for sports, playing an instrument, or for special occasions.

How does Invisalign treatment work to improve my smile?

Once you choose Invisalign clear braces to straighten your teeth, Dr. Rosenbaum and the friendly staff at NorthPointe Dental Clinic will schedule you for a consultation. During this initial appointment, your teeth will be examined and impressions will be taken. These impressions will then be used to craft a series of clear plastic aligners that will gradually shift your teeth into the most attractive alignment. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks before the patient moves to the next set of aligners in their treatment plan.

Why is orthodontic treatment important?

The practice of orthodontics focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of tooth, jawbone, and facial irregularities. This branch of dentistry deals with issues related to the alignment of teeth or the jaw. If left untreated, patients with these problems can have an increased risk of tooth decay, possible tooth loss, pain, and even digestive problems. That is why it is so important to see a quality orthodontist as soon as you learn that such a visit is necessary.

What is the recommended age for my child to see an orthodontist?

Research suggests that early treatment can help patients avoid surgery or more serious complications later in life. Here at NorthPointe Family Dentistry, we recommend that children visit an orthodontist by age 7, or earlier if a problem has been detected by a parents, a dentist, or a physician. However, it is important to note that orthodontic treatment can be started at any age.

I am 42. Am I too old for orthodontic treatment?

It is never too late to improve the appearance or health of your smile. We routinely see patients of all ages in our office who are seeking to get a better smile with Invisalign clear braces. You can also check out our results page to see what Invisalign has done for patients just like you. Patients who do not have a fully developed jawbone are not advised to use Invisalign. To see if you are a good candidate for Invisalign, we suggest you call us for a no-obligation consultation.

How long will the Invisalign process take to straighten my teeth?

Total treatment time for most patients with mild to moderate alignment or spacing problems usually takes between 12 and 18 months. Patients will change their Invisalign aligner every two weeks and should visit Dr. Rosenbaum once every 6 weeks or so. More complicated cases can take longer to treat. We recommend a comprehensive examination with Dr. Rosenbaum so that we can give you a more accurate estimate of how long your treatment will take.

Can I afford Invisalign?

At NorthPointe Family Dentistry we believe in helping our valued patients straighten their teeth regardless of their budget. This is why we offer many great payment options and receive benefits from most dental insurance plans. For more financial details, please call our office today to find out our many payment options or how you can finance your Invisalign treatment.

Will Invisalign interfere with playing sports or an instrument?

Invisalign is a wonderful tooth straightening option because it can be removed to play sports, take pictures, attend special events, or play a musical instrument. Patients will need to be sure that they wear their aligners approximately 22 hours a day. Anything less could interfere with your specific orthodontic plan and prolong your treatment.
